How Are We Involved?
The Duane Davis Foundation partnered with the Haitian Sports Foundation in 2019. The DDF has provided funding for a variety of sports opportunities, scholastic curriculum, basic healthcare needs and earthquake relief in the town of Anse-a-Veau, Haiti. This little enclave is located approximately 3 and 1/2 hours southwest of Port-au-Prince. It’s locale has provided quiet cover away from the violence and gang activity that grab the headlines. Our first project was assisting in the completion of the clinic, which serves not only the students, but the whole community free of charge. When the latest earthquake struck in 2021, The DDF provided funding for food and water relief to the entire community. They love spaghetti!
Our next project was bolstering the basketball program that was a major focus for the principals of HSF. Necessary repairs were made to the court and a significant contribution of athletic gear, shoes and uniforms (you have to look the part Coach would insist as he took ties out of his own closet for kids who didn’t have one to wear to away games) to carve your way to victory. It has become what we know here as “Friday Night Lights” in the region. People come from all over to watch the kids embrace a game they have never played in an organized fashion.
We also provided all of the funding through The DDF for the Art Borin, Jr. Professional School. This is named after the late husband of the founder of The DDF, Karen Borin. He had a strong conviction that education and keeping your hands busy led to success. The school opened this past summer and automotive and solar programs are already being held in the new building. There are many other projects slated for this organization in the coming months. It has been a major focus of the work The DDF conducts.

How Are We Involved?
Established by Aaron Judge, NY Yankee Outfielder & Home Run King, to promote healthy habits and encouraging adults in children’s lives to support the #just5minutes initiative. Have a catch. Take a walk. Read them a book. The DDF partnered with All Rise to bring kids from Bro/Sis to Have a Catch with Aaron. It was a magical day in centerfield for the kids. Aaron, joined by his teammate Anthony Rizzo(1B) selflessly spent over an hour with the kids playing ball, read a book by Aaron’s mom Patty and got a personal tour of monument park. To say it was something the kids will remember forever is an understatement. Coach Davis would have loved to see the transformative effect sports can play in a child’s life and that the big marque players understand the responsibility that comes with the fame they may not always seek, but wield with grace and dignity.
